After nearly three decades of publishing books, chapbooks, anthologies
and VISIONS-INTERNATIONAL,
the critically acclaimed international journal of poetry and art, we have decided to respond to the
many requests for publication that we could not fund independently. We now offer poets whose work we find
worthwhile an opportunity to achieve publication.
Unlike vanity presses, Black Buzzard Press will choose your book only if we truly believe it deserves to appear in print.
It will be treated with the same respect and care as our many non-subsidized publications.
Our first book in this series, Adam and Cain, by noted New York
literary figure Michael Graves,
was published in April 2006. Our second Journey to the South by one of the Balkans' greatest poets
Djura Papharhaji appeared in Sept. 2006. Our 2007 volumes are Grand Detour by J. Tarwood and
A Canticle For Palmquist by Steven Fortney.
Both are unique and well regarded poets.
Our schedule for 2008 includes Father of Water by Charles Pierre, noted N.Y.C. poet, published in October,
as well as Why the Dwarf Had to be Shot by Sasha Skenderija (translated from Bosnian by Wayles Browne and others), published in November.
Our first chapbook in this series, Crocodile Tears,
by Eras Gyure, was published
in May 2006,
followed by Useless Relics by Anne Marie Blum in July.
In 2007 we released Still Life by Alan Catlin.
Just released in 2008 is Real Toads by noted D.C. area literary figure Elisavietta Ritchie.
